Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament of healing that is especially intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness, providing spiritual and sometimes physical healing.

"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and Death of Christ." -CCC 1499

Who can receive Anointing of the Sick?

Anyone who is undergoing surgery, seriously ill, or in danger of death due to sickness or old age can be anointed. In the case of an emergency, please call the emergency phone at (608) 561-7234. For all other cases, please contact Fr. Chris at (608) 831-4843 opt. 3 or at pastor@ashtoncatholic.org
